Supporting innovative companies and start-ups is natural role of the central securities depositories in developed countries. And that is one of the reasons why Centrálny depozitár cenných papierov SR, a.s. (CDCP SR) have decided to cooperate with a business accelerator PERRY TALENTS. From the other reasons we can mention development of business environment, increasing of effectivity and competitiveness of the Slovak Republic. Smart solutions, automation, robotization or artificial intelligence are the future of coming years not only in Slovakia.
It is common in the world that the central securities depositories support innovative projects. The central depository in Switzerland even runs its own start-up incubator. „We also would like to follow this trend of successful and progressive countries,“ said Martin Wiedermann, the Managing Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors of CDCP SR. „Therefore we gave the green light to this cooperation, through which we would willingly pass our experience to young businessmen“.
This represents natural development of business activities, as well as indirect support to the capital market. „Of course I would not like to act like unreasonable optimist, as for development of the capital market several further stimuli are needed“, cleared Martin Wiedermann. „However, supporting start-ups is certainly right path how to support the capital market or facilitate its development. In addition, it can be supposed that successful start-ups shall issue equity or debt securities“.
The business accelerator PERRY TALENTS selects 8 to 10 innovative project for their programme each year. „There is a great interest in our programme, but from the applicants we select only those who have the highest potential to establish themselves in the market, or to expand to foreign countries“, explained Andrej Krúpa, one of the promoters of PERRY TALENTS. Our program is built on several pillars. Selected start-ups shall be provided with free office space, elaborate education system, individual cooperation with experienced mentors and lectors, and they also have possibility to present themselves to potential investors. PERRY TALENTS cooperates with renowned companies and with more than 150 experts, among which often are the CEOs of companies.
„As regards cooperation with the central securities depository, we communicated with Mr Martin Wiedermann personally“, said Michal Magnusek, one of the promoters of the start-up Live Space. „We were given valuable advice, we had been talking on possible cooperation and discussed potential progress of our project.“
„Innovations contribute mainly to growth of competitiveness and effectivity of our economy. Thus I understand this as a way how to increase the added value, despite it is an endurance race. So on long term basis we perceive supporting of innovative and start-up projects as meaningful“, added Martin Wiedermann.
